The right question isn't "which is better", it's where your customer is when they decide to buy.
Google Ads: intent
Someone typing "custom corrugated box manufacturer" already wants to buy. Google Ads shows your ad at that moment. Higher cost per click, higher conversion, volume limited by search demand.
Start with Google when: the product or service is already being searched for, the sale is urgent (repairs, emergencies, B2B with existing demand), or the ticket is high and a qualified click is worth paying for.
Meta Ads: discovery
Someone scrolling Instagram isn't looking for anything. Meta Ads interrupts with a good creative and creates desire — or reminds them of a need. Lower cost per click, slower conversion, almost unlimited volume.
Start with Meta when: the product is new or visual (fashion, food, decor, aesthetics), purchases are impulsive, or the audience needs to be educated before they search.
The quick table
| Google Ads | Meta Ads | |
|---|---|---|
| Moment | Already searching | Discovering |
| Cost per click | Higher | Lower |
| Conversion | Faster | Slower |
| Creative | Text + page | Video/image |
| Scale | Limited by searches | Almost unlimited |
The funnel with both
- Meta creates demand with video and sends people to the site.
- Google catches those who later search for your name or category.
- Remarketing on both: visitors who didn't convert see you again — it's the cheapest click there is.
On a small budget, pick one and do it right. On a medium budget, both with cross remarketing. And in any case, SEO alongside: it's what makes the media bill cheaper year after year.
