Advertising on Instagram and Facebook (Meta Ads) on a small budget works — as long as the structure is right. A small budget doesn't forgive setup mistakes.
1. Choose the objective by what you want to happen
"Reach" and "likes" are almost never a small company's objective.
- Want WhatsApp messages? Engagement objective → messages, with WhatsApp connected.
- Want sign-ups or quotes? Leads or conversions objective, with a form or landing page.
- Want online store sales? Sales objective, with pixel and catalog.
2. Install tracking before the first dollar
Meta pixel on the site, a conversion event configured (form submitted, WhatsApp click), and Google Analytics 4 via Tag Manager. Without it, you don't know what worked — and Meta can't optimize.
3. Audience: start broad, let the algorithm learn
On a small budget, a broad audience with a good creative usually beats detailed targeting. Save remarketing audiences (site visitors, people who engaged) for a second, cheaper campaign.
4. Creative is 70% of the result
Short video or image with one message, text on screen, the brand's look. Test 3 variations; pause the two worst within a week. The winning creative defines the next batch.
5. Landing page or WhatsApp?
With a small budget and consultative sales, send to WhatsApp with a ready message. With a quick-purchase product, a mobile-first landing page, no menu, one CTA.
6. When to increase the budget
When cost per result has been stable for two weeks. Increase 20% at a time; big jumps reset the learning phase.
